Semalam, Ahli Parlimen Bakri telah pun mengeluarkan satu kenyataan bahawa beliau telah melancarkan satu kempen Petisyen Rakyat berhubung dengan projek Refinery And Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) di Pengerang, Johor dimana petisyen ini akan dijadikan sebagai satu usul di bawah Perkara 19, Peraturan Mesyuarat Dewan Rakyat, Parlimen Malaysia.

Pengerang di Johor yang dianggap lesu, hari ini menyaksikan kira-kira 200 orang mengadakan bantahan terhadap rancangan Petronas untuk menubuhkan sebuah kilang petrokimia bagi projek pembangunan hab industri minyak dan gas penapis gas di pekan itu.

Datuk Chua Jui Meng (Johor PKR Chairman), Hassan Karim (Johor PKR Deputy Chairman, Steven Chong and Jimmy Puah, a lawyer by profession, gathered at Pengerang, Johor for a dialogue with the residents on March 16, 2012.

Jimmy Puah explained the Land Acquision Act 153, and guided the landowners in the finer details. He said that by now Borang A is being exhibited at the Land Office. With Boring B the Land Office officers will come over to measure their land.

Later Borang C, Borang D and then finally the landowners will be served with the Borang E.

He said if the landowners are not happy with the compensation figure they can contest their cases at the Johor Bahru high court.

Jimmy Puah stressed that with the Refinery and Petroleum Intergraded Development (RAPID) project, in the near future their sea will no longer be blue and their sky will be black.
